Tools for successful European Projects

 

While being equipped with all necessary knowledge of the theoretical framework, e.g. in applying for Erasmus+ funding, you will also be provided with practical, hands-on experience, based on the course coaches' own project work and expert knowledge in the fields of

Team-building

intercultural communication

project management and -monitoring

implementing digital communication media in project work.

 

A number of methods and exercises in intercultural communication, put into practice by you during the course, are supposed to be immediately implemented to your daily work with you students back home.

 

During the six days of the course you will receive a total of 46 hours of training lessons.

BUILDING A PROJECT TEAM

  • Transparency and orientation in terms of goals, stages/sections and procedures
  • Coherence and stringency
    in planning and implementation
  • Flexibility - "less is (sometimes) more".
  • Work and fun, concentration and relaxation in a balanced relationship
  • Networking: Meet like-minded people from European countries and make valuable contacts

 

INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION

Approaches to the theory of culture

  • ”What is it ... culture?“ – Theory and concepts of culture
  • ”We are different from them. Or are we?“ – Stereotypes and prejudices
  • ”There’s more to it than you can see“ – Dimensions and standards of culture
  • ”Let’s go intercultural“ – Gaining intercultural competence

Manual of intercultural awareness

  • Raising intercultural awareness. Hands-on references and exercises, introducing ”Anleitung zum Fremdgehen”/ ”Guide to being unfaithful”, an exercise course (for students) in intercultural awareness designed by ’ink-up’-institute, University of Passau, Germany
  • Approaching intercultural awareness. Humoristic and satirical videos and cartoons as means of depicting and overcoming prejudice as well as intercultural misbehaviour
  • Enjoying intercultural awareness. Music as an emotional entry to cultures

Experiencing European cultures first-hand at the venue

  • Greek culture: historical, socio-economic, religious and cultural insights; school system
  • Turkish culture: historical, socio-economic, religious and cultural insights; school system

MANAGING COMPETENT EUROPEAN PROJECTS

How to manage projects with European partners

Theory and tools, along with examples, on the basics of

  • project monitoring
  • project management
    in particular of
       Erasmus+  /  KA2 projects
       students exchange projects
       school partnerships
       teaching abroad
  • sources of further information and funding opportunities

Use of digital media in project organization and management

The digital era we live in offers plenty of means of communication to make use of when planning, organizing and carrying through international projects.

Explanations and demonstrations of how to use

  • e-Twinning as well as
  • further platforms and techniques of digital communication

will be followed by on-line exercises in usage

 

ACCOMPANYING CULTURAL PROGRAMME

The course includes

  • a guided city tour (Thessaloniki)
  • a visit at a Greek school
  • two presentations by the participants: "Cultural Home Europe - my country, my region, my city, my school"

METHODS AND WAYS OF PRESENTATION DURING TRAINING SESSIONS

 

Plenary and group discussion, talk, PowerPoint presentation, video and music clip, role play, workshop, computer-aided research, self-guided city exploration
 

DOCUMENTATION

Each participant will be given a USB data stick containing all relevant data and records of the course:

  • information on theoretical aspects presented during training sessions
  • further information on literature and other helpful material
  • music and video files
  • links and information on European programmes and further cooperation

Upon completion of the course you will receive a certificate of attendance listing all contents of training lessons.
